The Beacon, Sentosa Cove by WOW Architects

Beacon House - Ultra modern bungalow facade

We’ve featured 2 other Sentosa Cove homes over the pages of Habitat-MY before this and here we find a 3rd house in this prestigious part of Singapore developed by WOW Architects. Named The Beacon House because of its proximity to 2 navigation beacons floating out at sea that help ships coming in on Sisters Fairway to navigate the Buran channel. With it’s location on the southernmost tip of Sentosa island, this home has an extremely position with the ocean almost literally a stone’s throw away.

Due to it’s proximity with the ocean, the views from this home is stunning and it comes as no surprise that one of the points briefed to the architects was for the home to be ocean orientated. Usually you’ll see homes of this sort only have the ground floor be ocean orientated with the first floor and above being designed more for privacy; but not here. All 3 floors of this stunning bungalow has been built purposely to face the ocean, an interesting concept if you don’t mind being open to scrutiny from the outside.

The inside of the house has been finished primarily with materials in the shade of grey with fabricated concrete, grey colour marble/granite used in the majority of the spaces in the home. While other spaces such as the bedroom and balcony were finished in more earthy wooden tones. But the one thing i didn’t quite fancy was the beige colour marble used on the walls by the staircase, which felt like they stuck out a little too much.

My favourite spot in the entire design of this house has to be the kitchen. It’s functional with plenty of storage space with the bar counter on the island just a stones throw away from the stove. The design is neat and clean and something i feel would work in any bungalow renovation. Now if only i could find the dough to buy a bungalow.  :)
