Satu House by Chrystalline Architect

Satu House - Modern semi-d facade design

It’s always interesting to see the trends arising in home renovations around South East Asia with the many designs elements that owners across the region are incorporating into creating a space to call home. Today we have featured here Satu House located in Jakarta, Indonesia and designed by Chrystalline Artchitect.

Roughly the size of a semi-d type home, this house has a total available space slightly in excess of 3,500 sq/ft and the design that the architect’s have developed and implemented is an interesting one. Built to the borders of the available land area, this home actually looks like its has been built to maximize space availability within the home. But the facade actually hides a very interesting fact, the home has two void spaces to both the left and right that allows sunlight into the home and at the same time provide a feeling of airiness. The void of the left houses a free hanging staircase which leads to the bedrooms on the first floor while the void on the right serves more as a courtyard.

The entire concept for the ground floor follows an open concept style to allow the most enjoyment from the courtyard located right next to it. The courtyard concept in itself is interesting as it looks to feel more of the outdoors that indoors even when it’s located right next to the inner space of the home.

One the first floor, one thing that will catch your eye is the extensive use of tempered glass as part of the flooring as it allows more sunlight to better reach the ground floor. One side of the first floor provides a walkway to the various rooms while the other side allows the occupants to slide open doors for views down into the courtyard below. What would have been really nice is if a water feature with some shrubbery was done on the facing wall in the courtyard, a lil noisy yes but definitely would give the home a really soothing and calming feeling.

Enjoy the pictures of this home below, I’m sure you would be more than pleasantly astounded!
