Coming across a terrace house in Singapore is an extremely rare thing. Discovering a renovated 4 storey terrace house that has been renovated is tantamount to striking gold! But here you’ll find pictures of this Singaporean family home that was given a modern interior design twist.
Envisioned by KNQ Associates, this family home was designed with a theme that mixes contemporary design elements with glamorous accents; including reflective materials and luxe furnishings, to create a vibrant atmosphere. The extent of the design work that was undertaken extended even to the entryway to the house, the front porch. A dark wood veneer was used on the front door is complemented by textured stone tiles on the surrounding walls at the car porch and a specially designed shoe storage unit. The wall mounted plants adds an interesting visual element to the entrance of the home and helps soften a potentially cold look.
The home was painted in rather vibrant colours, some of which are too vibrant for my personal liking. The colour mood theme was taken throughout the home into all the different rooms in the house. While the living room had some interesting features to it, the rooms are as intricately designed which was rather interesting.
The icing on the cake for this home though has to be its rooftop garden. How many people in Singapore can actually say they have a proper sized garden at home? Very few in my opinion. Wood-grain homogeneous tiles were used to mimic timber plank decking of the rooftop garden. Not sure if they are actually cheaper than the real timber decking but the tiles did add to the overall look. Not bad actually for a garden on the roof.
But after looking at all of the pictures of the home, the potential was so much more. A great deal more could have been done but it would have required major renovation works and may not have answered the clients brief. Don’t get me wrong, I think the house looks nice, not fantastic but still nice. Just wished that the owner had explored the potential of his home a great deal more.
